from my soapbox
so Imus got himself fired tonight and is out of his livelihood until satellite radio picks him up. now i agree that there are limits to what you can say as a public figure and i can't really blame all the advertisers for pulling out which ultimately led to MSNBC and then CBS dropping him. however, sometimes you wonder if people these days are too easily offended. i've never been one to be offended easily because i think a lot of people say stupid things they don't really mean. it's one thing if someone is saying things to be intentionally hurtful, it's another if they're doing it because they don't think before they act. i know some folks were really annoyed at Rosie and Abercrombie for being "racist" towards asians, and i understant that but for me it was more of another example of people acting before thinking rather than being intentionally hurtful. my feeling is that we all have free choices to listen, watch, buy, whatever we want. so long as no one is actively propogating hate, violence, etc... i don't think they should have their livelihood removed for political correctness sake.
