i worked for the mexican federal police. the common understanding amongst drug fighting types is that if the mexican police seizes 1000kgs there really was 2000 and they took the other half for their "fee." Same goes with money. However, this time they would've needed a U-haul track to carry away half and would've aroused some suspicion at the banks. so they probably ended up grabbing only a couple of handfuls (notice the gaps in space up front in the picture). Of course, when you grab a one foot high stack of 100 dollar bills, that's quite a bit of change. if you were ever wondering what $200 million looked like in 100 dollar bills, take a look. and we wonder why we're losing the drug war. you have this type of cash stacked like this because you make it faster than you can launder it.
another sign we're losing, did you see the 20 metric TONS of cocaine that were seized in panama. it's on www.dea.gov right now. you load 20 tons on a boat only when you decide there's no need to conceal it.
