happy memorial day

i don't know if happy is the proper phrase for a holiday intended to commemorate the dead, but you get the drift.

if you're in DC or Chicago you will notice that it's hot as heck out. relatively speaking, it's not that hot, but in dc at least, it went from being about 70 to upper 80s basically overnight - no warning or adjustment time at all. despite the fact that i don't pay for electricity, the conservationist/tightwad in me still refuses to turn on the AC which means that this weather is brutal. i am using all my sunscreen though this year, no need to give myself skin cancer or wrinkles for that matter.

the weekend has been semi relaxing, would've been much more so and more productive if it were a touch cooler. spent some ok times running along the dirty river and working on the tan. had the breakfast buffet at royal's this morning, a 100+ year old alexandria institution - it wasn't the original pancake house though, as was pointed out. i actually almost desired to go to a beach yesterday, but fortunately that urge was squashed by the fact there are no beaches within 50 miles of me and you have to be insane to touch the water in the potomac. it's ok, because i would likely have been reminded why i don't like beaches to start with - sand.

i'm going to go "play" guitar on my porch and wonder why i never actually bothered to learn to play it decently.
