In addition to being a blog, i've decided to turn this into a personal webpage. I've realized that
this template they give me makes it super easy to create personal webpages and what not and I will take full advantage.

an "older, wiser" DEA co-worker today decided to give me some career advice. He said there's a bunch of things i have going for me in becoming very successful in our business on the intelligence side (these are his exact words):
- effective
- efficient
- fast learner
- minority
the major things against me:
- flippant
- cocky
after looking up flippant in a dictionary, I know at least one former EJCer who would agree with that assessment. to my credit, i did read "When Genius Failed" for the main purpose of reigning in the hubris at my work, apparently it has yet to pay any dividends. I blame the UofC for making me an elitist.
At least i didn't capitalize the I Am in my title. I ain't that proud of myself.

to be more on topic...although you shouldn't be elitist, you probably have the deserved right to be given the others who typically work in the government. The derisive phrase "good enough for government work" is probably founded on some truth.
Anyone who lists your minority status as a major attribute is a jackass. That's ethnic harassment, yo. Similar to when supervisors purposely select a group of young women to meet with the Major ('because that's what he likes about our office'). Disgusting. Of course, you should totally exploit these situations and use them to further your career in every way possible. You're just not obligated to play their game by their rules.
