olympic redemption

for all the failures of bode miller and other hyped american superstars, we will all forgive and forget, because Ohno (who according to wiki is dating a speedskater who has a chance to be on the apprentice like the beckster) bailed them out with his shocking victory over the koreans tonight. I understand why canada might be good at an ice sport, but how did korea ever become a powerhouse? they don't do jack in other ice sports, but when it comes to speedskating, it's almost lights out. it's been a long, tiring day and i still didn't clean the house or pay the bills... funny how those things always manage to get pushed off until it's intolerably dirty or i'm about to be smacked with late fees. i did see more asians this evening than i have since leaving chicago... of course it was watching speedskating and Crouching Tiger, which i saw for the first time earlier in an effort to not forget all my chinese... i had to read subtitles for most of it, sheesh can't even understand anglicized chinese (neither of the main actors apparently speaks natively).
