it had to happen sooner or later

so, pulling into the curb seems to be a skill that i have definitely not mastered. Often times when i pull in, normally at pretty high speeds since there are rarely any other cars parked on the street, i'll hit the curb with that front passenger tire or scrape it along the side, etc...

tonight, after helping make the world a better place, i drove a little faster than normal and hit the curb a little harder than normal. my first thought was oh crap, if i'm not careful i'll trigger the airbag and that would be really bad. my second thought was to check on the tire to which i discovered a loud hissing sound of air escaping from the side of the tire wall. my next words are not repeatable here or in the presence of people in general. $75 later i've got a dinky spare on, and will be heading to the tire store down the street in the morning where i'm sure they will con me out of an extraordinary amount of money. nothing like pouring money into a crappy old car. and to add insult, my AAA membership expired not more than 1 month ago. at least i didn't fall asleep at the wheel and crash into anything though.

i suggest that if you don't own a jack, you make friends with people who do. it'll save you the highway robbery of $75 to jack a car and unscrew 4 bolts. either that or look when you drive.
