Harriet Miers - scenario 1, she withdraws her nomination after being unconfirmable, the prez sneeks in his real choice since the dems can't block two nominations in a row. scenario 2, the prez gets his crony in there. it's win win for him.

Southern Methodist U - that's a quality 2nd/3rd tier law school/undergrad. All right, you fellow academic snobs, admit it, who said what the heck is SMU when they heard it. on a court full of yale law grads and the rest from lowly harvard, maybe it'll be good to get an "outsiders" view on one of the most important jobs in the country. i'm actually sorta serious about that.
