sports news

having just read today's sports news, some thoughts.

1. Lance Armstrong is retiring. Great cyclist, but seriously, is his announcement of a retirement this summer really worthy of the top story at CNN.com

2. Monday Night Football to be moved to ESPN and Sunday night football goes to NBC. First, that stinks for those who don't have cable. However it's nice to see that NBC finally has real sports on it again other than golf. Who in the world actually watches arena football and dirt bike riding or whatever other crap they put on NBC.

3. Hopefully the Mets get back on track tonight after yesterday's loss. It couldn't last forever. But what's with the Montreal Expos (renamed the Nats) being in first place. Must be early indeed in the season.

In other news, still no pope. nothing but black smoke. for reference, black smoke is the bad kind, white smoke is good. in terms of getting a pope and in real fires.

If the MNF change makes John Madden retire, I'll be happy.
