Things learned from Tax filing

i filed my taxes today, here's some cool things i discovered:

1. Taxslayer Free Federal AND State e-filing for those under 25 years of age. very nice, easy to use, interface.
2. IL Drivers License Algorithm I needed my IL drivers license number and used this algorithm which pretty much has it figured out. The cool part (and the link) is you can enter your IL license number and it will reverse engineer it and make an educated guess about you. It's very close on mine, try it, here's my former IL drivers license #W520-7308-0248
3. I had capital gains of -$50 in 2004. thankfully, 05 is doing better.

Next blog to be from Quantico, VA.

That is freaky. While publicly publishing such algorithms may make it easier for people to verify identities / ID #'s, it also could make it easier to steal one's identity. Not exactly sure what one can do with just a license #, b-day, name, etc. but they should consider changing the algorithms or limit what such info can be used for.
